GAP YEAR PROCEDURE

GAP YEAR PROCEDURE

The DEVE has implemented a digital gap year procedure: Students will now use E-candidat to submit their files, and the gap year referents and commission members will also have access to the files via E-candidat.

The new decree of May 26, 2016, provides:

"Exceptionally, upon the motivated request of the doctoral student, an indivisible gap period of a maximum duration of one year can be granted only once, by decision of the head of the institution where the doctoral student is registered, after agreement from the employer, if applicable, and the opinion of the thesis supervisor and the director of the doctoral school. During this period, the doctoral student temporarily suspends their training and research work but may remain registered, if they wish, at their institution. This period is not counted in the duration of the thesis. The institution guarantees the doctoral student who suspends their studies their registration in the doctoral program at the end of the gap period."
